Outdoor Ranges
Trap and Skeet Ranges
Three standard outdoor shotgun ranges were used during the Sydney 2000 Olympic and Paralympic Games. These ranges now provide facilities for all Olympic disciplines including Olympic skeet, Olympic trap, and Olympic double trap. There are further eight standard ranges available for trap, skeet, down-the-line trap, American skeet and five stand sporting clay.
It was during the Sydney 2000 Olympic Games that Australians Michael Diamond and Russell Mark went down in history while on these ranges -- Diamond for winning gold in trap and Russell Mark for his silver medal in double trap.
The trap finals range has fixed seating for 150 people. There is also shade structures placed strategically around the grounds for spectator comfort.
The Russell Mark control room is centrally located to the Olympic trap and skeet ranges. It houses amenities including an air-conditioned control room, air-conditioned jury room and a general storeroom.
As with the indoor ranges, all outdoor ranges have been specifically designed to cater to those with special needs.
